8 Simple Steps to Create Comfortable Bedroom Space

8 Simple Steps to Create Comfortable Bedroom Space Expand options

Sometimes the best part of a home is your bedroom. It’s away from anyone else you live with and entirely your own space. You should feel at ease and comfortable in your own bedroom, but that isn’t always true for everyone.

Read on to learn eight tips on how to create a bedroom space you love.

1. Clean Up and Clear the Clutter

You have a lot going on in life, so sometimes it’s hard to find time for household chores. It might be easy to let your dishes sit in the sink for another day or leave your vacuum in the closet, but you should take a few minutes to clean up your room.

Tossing your laundry in a basket and putting things back where they belong will straighten everything up and make it more welcoming. It’ll be hard to get distracted from your favorite book when there’s no mess to catch your eye.

2. Improve the Lighting

Do you depend on the sunlight coming through your windows or use only bulbs to brighten up the dark corners? You could need a lighting upgrade to help the space. See if you can buy different light bulbs or switch to sheer curtains to transform your bedroom.

3. Find an Organization Method

There are some things you can move out of your bedroom, but not everything. In that case, find an organization method for your space. Hide your belongings under your bed, stack drawers or get multi-use storage furniture.

4. Decorate Your Walls

Even if you have the best comforter or decor in the world, empty walls are sad. Decorate them with posters, pictures or drawings. Just double-check your lease if you rent, since you could accidentally break it by drilling holes over a certain size to hang shelves or a TV.

5. Reconsider Your Mattress

You go to your bedroom to hang out in bed, so your mattress is a crucial part of how much you enjoy being in your room. Take a look at your mattress and consider finding a comfortable alternative that matches the firmness you prefer. A softer mattress may help you sleep better and a firm mattress can keep you from waking up with a sore back.

6. Pick the Right Colors

If you’re able to paint your bedroom, pick a soothing color to ease your nerves at the end of the day. Pale and neutral tones will calm your mind, no matter which color you prefer. Those who can’t paint can get a new comforter, throw pillows or decor in the new colors.

7. Freshen the Air

You may not feel inclined to be in your bedroom because it’s stuffy and has an odor. Spray the room with an air freshener or grow easy air-filtering plants to bring life and fresh air back to the space. A scented candle or pot of daisies could be what the room is missing to be more cheerful and pleasant.

8. Add a Throw Blanket

There’s something about a throw blanket across a chair or bed that invites people to sit down and enjoy themselves. Use one as a decor piece or extra bedding to add depth and character to your room.

Play Around With Ideas

The best part about changing your room is that you can play around with any ideas you like. Try growing a few plants, change out your mattress or brighten the room and you’ll feel more comfortable in no time.
