You might think you don’t know who Ashley Albert is, but you’ve definitely heard her voice. Maybe you’ve listened to her Grammy-nominated children’s band, The Jimmies playing overhead while you strolled through a store. Or if you religiously watched MTV’s Daria as a teenager in the nineties, you might geek out upon learning that Albert was the voice of slow speaking, valley girl Tiffany Blum-Deckler.
Even if you’ve never watched Daria or listened to The Jimmies, there’s no way you didn’t hear Ashley’s voice over work in commercials for Lucky Charms or McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish Sandwich or in Ice Age: Continental Drift!
These days, Albert is focused on a new project; the magical Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club in Gowanus, which she opened this spring with longtime friend Jonathan Schnapp, a former web design professor at New York University. The 21+ club is a visually stunning throwback to south Florida shuffleboard culture, complete with aqua blue courts, a tiki bar, and pink flamingo wallpaper in the bathroom. It’s the perfect place to drink fancy cocktails, hang out with friends, and eat at the hippest food trucks. (The club has a different vendor every night.)
Since opening Royal Palms, Albert has decided to leave behind Manhattan for Brooklyn; she’s selling her self-described “bungalow” in Gramercy Park and moving to a loft in Gowanus, right by the club.
Experts agree that leaving your tchotchkes in the apartment makes it harder to sell, because people can get distracted trying to figure out who lives in the space currently. That’s why Ashley is using Clutter to get her personal effects out of the way while she stages her Manhattan apartment to sell.
These would-be buyers loss is our gain because Ashley let us take a look in her Clutter, an eclectic mix of Jimmies merchandise, shuffleboard books, and plain old cool stuff!
