No matter what kind of stuff you have laying around, there are plenty of ways to turn your stash and into cash when you sell your unwanted items.
While you’re packing to send stuff to storage like MakeSpace, where they will come pick up, store and deliver your stuff back to you—it’s a great opportunity to take inventory of your stuff. Perhaps you have a few things that you know have some significant value, or you have repeat items.
You may have items that will serve you best as extra cash rather than objects to hold on to.

When it comes to clothes and accessories, thrifting apps are great places to get the most bang for your buck. While selling clothes at consignment stores and thrift stores was once the choice way of letting your threads go, apps like Depop and Poshmark allow you to list style items individually rather than selling them in bulk. This way, you can usually get more value from each item by sending them directly to people who want them.
2. Auction sites
If you have vintage accessories, home decor, art, antiques or other objects of value, an auction site may be your best bet. Auctions ensure that your items are being handled by professionals who know the value and purpose of whatever they’re selling. They market to people who are looking specifically for those items, which means their customers are willing to pay what your things are actually worth.
3. Social media

While social media isn’t always the best place to sell things, there are plenty of instances when it’s actually the best outlet in disguise. If you’re looking to sell things with a specific look, taste or niche that translates well to your followers and communities, turning to them could give you the best turnout.
For example, selling clothes on Instagram is great for those with followers and friends with similar styles, and selling pop culture merchandise usually translates well in Facebook groups devoted to that specific interest.
4. Local marketplace outlets
For larger items like furniture and appliances, outlets that allow you to exchange with people in your local area will usually provide the best results, as transportation and handling are much easier on a local scale. Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist and Letgo all facilitate sales on a personal, local scale.

Even after you clear out your space with MakeSpace, you may still have a few things that you know won’t serve you. You have the power to make the most of your unwanted stuff—all you need to know is where to take it!
